Three hundred Primary Education students from schools in Moguer and Mazagón have been made aware of the importance of water resources on the conservation of the exceptional natural environment that surrounds them as part of the ‘Grow your values’ campaign led by Grufesa in local state schools to improve recognition about the socioeconomic importance of the strawberry sector. This comprehensive educational project centres on values that reassess the key features of the sector and contribute to the personal development and social advancement of future generations.
Fifth year students have participated in the third of five educational units, all about ‘The Environment and Sustainability’, during which they enjoyed a visit to Doñana, one of the greatest examples of nature conservation in the world, to see for themselves the importance of water resources and the ways in which it is best used to preserve the environment.
The students enjoyed a guided tour of the La Rocina visitors’ centre and took part in a fun birdwatching activity in its observatories. They later visited the Charco del Acebrón route, where they saw one of the best conserved riverbank woodlands in Spain and the long-standing human impact on Doñana.
‘Grow Your Values’ also involves collaboration by the City Hall of Moguer and Obra Social La Caixa and will be run throughout the school year, reaching over 1,200 students.
